Hilarious! And I resonate so much with this. I have always thought Vegas, cruise ships, and--recently added to the list after my latest trip--most of Florida, are the trashiest, most single-serving, overindulgent, plastic, detached-from-mother-earth, devoid-of-brain-use places in existence. But I think the only way to do it is to adopt your "when in Rome" attitude... because, honestly, it's all a wash in the end, and we're all one. I couldn't live like that, but I can expand my mind and marvel at God's creatures who do, who, as you said, are usually kind, loving, and a joy to be around.
Loved living vicariously through you. I’ve never wanted to go to Vegas or on a Cruise - not my thing. Now I don’t have to worry I missed anything.
The old guy who ditched his 56 year old wife for the 35 year old bookkeeper? As far as I’m concerned the 56 year old wife is the luckiest of those 3 as long as she had a good attorney.
This is hilarious. I agree with you, it's good every once in a while to shock your system for a few days. make sure it can handle things.
Vegas no longer has the tiny illegal immigrants handing out porn cards and littering the sidewalk. It was always illegal, but they started imposing draconian fines, and that finally worked, so that's gone, and it makes it a lot nicer, because that disconnect between desperate Grandma and Grandpas trying to sell cheap sex to fat white Americans was the worst part. It also really leaned into attracting the young party crowd who are there for the clubs and dancing, not gambling, so now you see a bunch of young fit glammed up people in addition to all the fat tourists and basically just every slice of America.
Never saw anyone reading a book there, that's for sure. But you can go to a crowded pool party playing jams with every size shape age and color of American, and every single person is happy and having a good time, that's what I like about it.
Thanks :) Yeah I went to Vegas recently... It was interesting because there were not many under 30. It was just post covid and I think many were financially smashed.
I DID see seven dudes in their 50s with their 35 year old new wives.
In my business - I see his alot. The rich contractor canns his 56 year old wife and starts a new life with the 35 year old Book keeper he has been spending to much time with... :)
Great story! And isn't it interesting how self-destructive we can become when we let go of a strict lifestyle? I noticed it after going alcohol free/low carb for a period and then had a 'cheat day' that turned into a cheat week. I even drank a Guinness before lunch where a month earlier I declined a beer on a nice night out with friends.
Ah, this is the life, vicariously living the life through reading about your life.
Been to Vegas twice and could not believe the excess of it either time. And people thrusting hooker cards at my man while we were walking down the Strip hand-in-hand, with our children. Gah!
Yet to experience the delights of cruise ships, but loved your account of it and what it does to your digestion :D
Hahahaha so glad I caught this before the end of the day. Great chuckle. And some interesting insights into the lives of other people. I work as a support worker/caregiver and it is an absolutely wonderful job. I learn so much from the people I support and their families. Being welcomed into the lived lives of other people, no filters. This story of yours reminded me to be extra grateful that I get to have these experiences, and be paid to do it, too.
There’s some funny stuff in there & a bit of wisdom. Gonna be reading further. Krazykiwi.
